METSO

METSO is the metallurgical society of the Metallurgical Engineering Department which works constantly for students in the field of guest lectures, conferences, seminars and various other activities aimed at developing all round skills of students.

In the academic session 2010-11, METSO organized events like the Metallurgy Quiz, Paper Presentation Competitions, Case Study Competitions and, Extempore and Debate Competitions.

Sports week is celebrated in the month of February which includes sports like Cricket Tournament, Football Tournament, Badminton Singles and Doubles (boys and girls), Chess Championship and Gully cricket especially for the girls.

METSO also celebrates its annual technical festival “UTKARSHAN” every year. UTKARSHAN is a two day festival which acts as a summit of the theoretical and practical aspects of engineering with an exposure on the latest trends and innovations. Technical lectures and seminars are also organised during the two days of celebration. The title for this year Seminar was “Recipe for a successful practising engineer” which was attended by prominent people from Metallurgical field and currently employed engineers in reputed industries like Bhilai Steel Plant, JSPL .  

 Endeavour published by METSO is a newsletter which is managed wholly by the students. The newsletter provides a perfect breeding ground for students to not just exhibit their literary talents but also to speak out on a variety of issues. It acts as a platform to the students undertaking research work in reputed laboratories to share their knowledge and experience. It provides an opportunity for alumni interaction via alumni interview and messages.
