Preamble

The purpose of this organization is to provide a common ground where the students of this institution can advance their understanding of environmental management through an organized exchange of knowledge. The experience they gain will also help them develop various other skills which will serve them stead in their future.

Article I

The name of this organization shall be known as "THE GREEN MOVEMENT".



Article II

A.) The purpose of this organization is to provide members an opportunity and encouragement to participate in conferences, retreats, meetings, social events, local environmental volunteering, awareness creation and conservation of the environment and energy.

B.) Any current or former student or faculty member of the National Institute of Technology Raipur may become a member of the organization by filling up an online application form and later signing a pledge.

C.) All members in good standing may be present and participate in discussions or proceedings of any regular, annual, or specialty meeting of the Environmental Club and may vote on all decisions and in all elections.

Article III

A) The standing committee of the organization shall be the Executive Committee under the patronage of the director of the institution and the necessary subcommittees will be formed as per necessity by the executive committee.

The Executive Committee shall consist of ten members, including the officers and the chairman (Faculty Advisor) and a director appointed nominee.

A three member advisory committee (IVth Year)

The chairman shall preside over all meetings and shall serve as Chair of the Executive Committee.

The President or the director appointed nominee shall preside over the meetings in absence of the chairman and shall serve as Chair of the executive Committee. It shall be the duty of the Secretary to keep minutes of all meetings, to notify members of all meeting times and locations, and to execute any other tasks which are deemed necessary by the President and/or Vice President along with the appointed conveners.

It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to be the custodian of all funds, organize the collection of dues, and make disbursements. He/she shall maintain accurate records of the finances of the organization and render a mandatory report after every activity organized by the organization and an annual report or statements at the end of every working year or at the behest of the Executive Committee or members, by resolution. All financial reports will be publicly published and accepted by the membership as accurate and correct.

In order to make the functioning of the executive committee smoother coordinators (VIth semester) and assistant coordinators (IVth semester) will be elected. The general members are expected to help this committee in any projects deemed necessary. This committee shall be responsible for developing and executing the club's programs and activities.

B.) The Chairman (Faculty Advisor) to the organization shall be appointed by the patron along with a deputy to him/her to act as chairperson in the case of the chairperson being unavailable.

C.) All office bearers (except the chairman and the advisory committee) shall be elected to their respective offices.

The executive members may belong to any branch of the institution and should have a proper service record and should have been a regular member for at least one complete working year.

Two coordinators and assistant coordinators will be elected from each branch will be elected. Each nominated member should have a good service record and minimum of a year's membership. The chairman or the advisory committee may object to any selection or nomination with a valid reason.

The Officers shall be elected at a regularly scheduled membership meeting (at the beginning of VIth semester), publicized at least two weeks in advance. The term of offices for each officer shall be for one working year (two semesters-namely 6th and 7th for the president).

The succession of Officers during an incomplete term shall be as follows: Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Program Coordinator. They may succeed to the next office in order of termination of the student in the next highest office (the existing office bearers will be promoted by one step rather than reelect a member).

A temporary officer may be elected by the membership to any permanent office. At any time the Executive Committee deems it to be necessary to remove a fellow Officer for not performing his/her duties, a 2/3 vote of all members present must be achieved in order for the office to be vacated. Nominations for the vacancy will first be taken from the Executive Committee and then from the general membership. General members will be recruited at the beginning of every even semester to fill up a limited number of vacancies decide by the executive committee.

The executive committee will possess the complete authority to terminate the membership of any given member at any given time if he /she does not perform satisfactorily. All decisions approved by the executive committee and finalized by the membership will be final and binding.

Article IV

These laws may be amended by the Environmental Club members at a regular or special meeting called for that purpose upon recommendation by the Executive Committee or upon petition signed by more than one half the members. Any amendment or change should be made with the consent of the executive committee and 2/3rds of the membership via a vote.

Article V

Regular informational meetings will be held once per month in at a predetermined venue within the college premises. All members will be notified in advance of all meeting times and/or locations decided upon by the Executive Committee. Special Meetings may be called and all members will also be notified in advance as to time and locations. All members are expected to attend meetings unless a valid excuse exists.
